My friend, you need a Seedbox!
A seedbox is a way to get around your ISP's restrictions, avoid corporate entrapment outfits such as MediaDefender, and protect your online privacy. You do all your peer-to-peer downloading remotely, on my servers with fast upload and download speeds, then transfer it quickly and discreetly to your PC. You don't need to leave your PC on 24/7, and you won't have any trouble maintaining a good ratio on private sites.
It's actually quite simple. If you're ever used a torrent program such as uTorrent, Azureus or BitComet, you're officially smart enough to use a Seedbox. The difference is when you want to download a torrent, instead of loading it on your computer, you load it in a web-based torrent program on my servers. Once the transfer is complete, you transfer the files to your own computer by means of FTP or Web download. Exclusively, you can even have the files burned to DVDs and mailed to you very cheaply, which is great for dial-up users or people with restrictive download limits.
All downloading happens on my fast and safe server in Amsterdam, well beyond the reach of abusive laws such as the DMCA or the Patriot Act. What happens in Amsterdam, stays in Amsterdam :)
Just like web hosting, the minimum contract duration is 3 months. If you pre-pay 12 months, you get a discount equivalent to 1 free month.
The transfer allocation includes both torrent upload & download, and your own FTP/Web downloads.

If you run out of disk space or bandwidth, there are a few things you can do:
Yep, you can borrow bandwidth. What that means is, if you've paid for 3 months, you get 3 months worth of bandwidth. For example, let's say you're on the Medium plan at 150gb per month, that means you have 3 times 150gb = 450gb to use in those three months. I don't care whether you use it all in the first week, or spread out evenly each day... it's all the same to me. Likewise, if you pay for a year, you get a year's worth of bandwidth. In my previous example, that means you could use 12 x 150gb, which is 1.8 terabytes!
There's one main rule: keep it legal! I'm a very liberal kind of guy, and Amsterdam is a liberal kind of place. That said, you can find all sorts of things on BitTorrent, and there are some things that are legal here in The Netherlands, that aren't legal in other parts of the world. I'm no lawyer, so it's up to you to find out.
Again, if you cross a line, I'll politely let you know and lay out your options. I reserve the right to suspend and/or delete any download that will get either you or me in legal trouble. I personally don't care what you download, but in the unlikely event that I receive a court order or other official communication, I have no choice but to take it down.
Lastly, if you are caught deliberately and repeatedly breaking the rules, I reserve the right to terminate your account immediately without refund. I hope I never need to resort to such a thing, and will only consider such rash action in the most extreme cases, but I have to draw the line somewhere. I assure you, it's still a far better outcome than getting sued and/or turned over to the authorities.
